What Do I Want?

My Theological education thus far could be explained with a scene from Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. King Arthur and his men stumble upon Tim the Enchanter, who has mastered pyrotechnics without the use of “flint or tinder”. Tim, another absurd figure among many in the film, sets about on an improvised firework show without rhyme or reason. It is Tim’s hilarious display that becomes the metaphor for my Theological knowledge. The scattershot technique I have for too long employed, jumping from text to text with …

God is not more glorious than he is in this self-surrender. God is not more powerful than he is in this helplessness. God is not more divine than he is in this humanity. The nucleus of everything that Christian theology says about “God” is to be found in this Christ event.” -Jürgen Moltmann

Serious Playfulness

I received what I feel is a great compliment last Tuesday. I was playing in a game that was going downhill, everyone was getting tired and the lack of running was starting to frustrate me. I wanted to get a really good work out and a lot of touches on the ball on account of the holiday festivities I partook in over the weekend, but it just wasn’t happening. Then Nazir, who was starting a smaller game with recent new comers called me over. “Hey white shirt, we need you …
